Fear may be found at the root of the anxiety and depression that often accompany job loss and unemployment. When money is not flowing in to meet financial obligations, fear is the natural response. For a believer, however, the challenge becomes responding supernaturally, and that is only possible with the help of a Power greater than one’s self.
The first emotion referenced in the Bible is fear. In Genesis 3:10, Adam, after eating the forbidden fruit, said “I was afraid, because I was naked.” God had told Adam and Eve not to eat of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, according to Genesis 2:17. Therefore, when Adam disobeyed, he felt fear. But when a sinner repents, faith comes to replace fear.
