A durable, non-slip plastic yoga mat will ensure the feet stay planted firmly on the ground. Improving stability is a large part of the yoga practice. A good mat helps enhance alignment and makes holding postures more comfortable and safe. Those who are tall may wish to purchase an extra long mat. This will be especially appreciated during postures that require floor work.
A yoga workout does not specifically require a certain type of clothing, but there are some special yoga clothes that are lightweight and comfortable. High-tech, stretchable fabrics can even help whisk away sweat. Form fitting clothing is typically best as it allows for easy movement and, when perfecting postures, the instructor can more easily see what areas of the body need to be adjusted and therefore offer more appropriate feedback.
