A tradesperson is a specialized worker who performs high-level manual tasks such as butchery, carpentry or auto work. A tradesperson will sometimes have a small amount of formal education but the bulk of his training is through applied on-the-job training, learning by doing. Even though they work with their hands, they are not the same as unskilled laborers, as they do have specialized skills, and it is important not to confuse the two categories.
Carpentry
Carpenters are people who put things together with their hands. This is a very broad, vague definition though. Some work on bridges and tunnels, while others work on things like high-rises and large commercial developments. Others still work on residential construction sites, building houses for developers and private investors.
