The above poem, written on a sheet of paper, was said to have been found in the pocket of a man shot dead on the streets of Chicago, along with a rosary, a crucifix, and a religious medallion.
He was identified as E. J. O'Hare, nicknamed 'Easy Eddie', the lawyer for the notorious gangster, 'Scarface' Al Capone. Eddie's job had been to provide 'protection' for Capone's job as a 'controller' of Chicago crime and bootlegging during the '20's. Eddie worked as a competent and involved lawyer, providing legal protection for Capone.
